January

Amira
Artist Resin Custom paintjob&modifications by Sue Kern. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

This picture was taken in 2018, I love it because of the several circular shapes formed by the background elements. At that time I was still dreaming of a magical gallop in the snow, wich is something I archived in 2020 after actually moving Amira really close to that picture spot. 10 years ago, snow wasn't rare in that area of the french alps, in fact all winters were covered in white snow then, years after years, it became rarer and rarer... in a way, that picture with melting snow kind of show thoses changes. I will talk about snow again later in this article because I'm never done with that subject.
So in the end, a very symbolic picture for me...

Snow and circles.

February

Aventin
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Sabrina Wojcik. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

This is probably not how you picture february but do you know that the mimosa, in fact, blooms in february? On the mediterranean coast february is yellow and really, really smells divine. This is a vibrant picture that will brings some colours into the end of the winter... this picture doesn't have a strong meaning but carries joy and somethimes it's enough!

Viviane Starry Sky ( jıldızduu asman )
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Aleksander Freda. Model sculpted by Jake Heaps.

Merlin Sky Blue ( kök asman )
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Aleksander Freda. Model sculpted by Anna Dobrowolska-Oczko.

On behalf of february picture, when spring is early on certains areas, it can be late on other ones. In the mountains, it can be really harsh but also, so beautiful. This picture of a wild mare struggling with her foal while the snow is still here really was exciting to do - because I love that kind of atmosphere. It was really cold that day but it was worth it, not only for this picture but also because I saw a lot of wildlife while doing it: deers, chamois and bird of prey. My pictures often celebrate nature and this is a perfect sample of my love for it.

My camera isn't really powerfull enough for such a zoom, but you if you look closely you can see some chamois - it's like searching for Waldo ;)

Diamond Heart
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by  ClĂ©mence de Casanove. Model sculpted by Kylee Parks.

The castle of Tervuren; inside there's the Royal African Museum of Belgium. I got there so many time to admire it's impressive collections, as child on family week-end or for educative purpose, even I got there with school for my art studies to draw inside it. Thoses past years it got criticized a lot as it's an heritage of Belgium colonialism, so it was remanied recently. I was curious to see the new staging but in the end, I enjoyed more the outside.
The last time I tried to capture this place with a modelhorse was after a school drawing session in 2013, it was raining and a schoolmate held an umbrella over my model so it wouldn't be covered in raindrops. I was willing since then, to go back and redo a better picture here... not knowing it would only happend... 11 years after.

May

Morgane Lwyd
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Aleksander Freda with sculpt modifications by L.K Magga. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

In may, wears what you want... or maybe do wathever you want? It's an unusual picture, I got that idea when I discovered the make it mini verse lifestyle with the birds inside. I started chasing them. It was a long journey and I can confirm that I really dislike blind bags. Our lilac tree seemed like the best background, I really LOVES lilac... we had a lilac in our little town garden when I was a child and I've always loved the fragrance and flower colours (my favorite colour is purple). A simple yet satisfying archivement, because yes beeing able to put our vision in picture is an archievement ;)

 Eunoia
Stone Horse OF painted by Julie Keim. Model sculpted by Maggie Jenner-Bennett.

If you've read this blog this year, you already know that this is a special model for me. And I was lucky enough to get to the sea with it, at the north sea to be more specific. As long as I can remember, every times I get to the beach at the north sea, I see horses. It's the land of beach rides... and even if I've never done that, it was a goal I had with Amira. So taking this specific model here, has a meaning for me.
Since I've lost the opportunity to evolve on saddle with my heart mare, I try to heal with art so I draw or photographs moments that could have existed. It really helps grieving.

Banana Split
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Nicole Söhn. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

Toffee Apple
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Carole Jacquier. Model sculpted by KS Art.

Did you ever dreamed of a horse trail vacation? Well if yes, this picture is for you! I took this one while my friend Clémentine was at home. When we are together as fellow hobbyist, we can provide each other tack and material. We always have a lot of fun doing it! So I borrowed this breyer packing set because I had that kind of picture in mind for a long time. I really likes the result, it changes from my usual work. I need a packing set for myself now. What do you think? (P.S: this picture was taken in one of actual Amira's field).

August

Dark Side of the Moon
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by  Donna Lorello. Model sculpted by Carol Williams.

Lady Bee
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by T.J Hurst. Model sculpted by Morgen Kilbourn.

Can you believe that this summery picture was in fact... taken in february? When going back from our picknick in the mimosa we did a stop at the beach. It was the end of the day and the light was perfect so I unwrapped the horses. I was doing pictures for this summer but without the hassle of the temperature (it was hot still). What a perfect day!
Unlike the north sea, the mediterranean sea (in France) is less a paradise for horses riders, it's not allowed on most of the beaches so that's a little more a fantasy. I like that you've got bot sea in the calendar - one from the north and one from the south ;)

 September

Dante's Prayer
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Sabrina Wojcik. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

Versailles! In september last year, there was one of the most important exposition ever made on the horse thema there. I absolutely HAD to get there and see it with my own eyes, no way that I miss that. It was right after the Olympics game and as the equestrian event took place at Versailles for it, they did plated back the great fountain in gold. How beautiful it is in fresh gold! Really not like the first time I did a photoshooting at Versailles, for sure. This picture is really one I'm proud: a bold and dynamic sky, the golden fountain shining in the sun and a majestic spotted horse... wich reminds me that the expo was phenomal, I was able to see in real one of my favorite painting: "The Piebald Horse" painted by Paulus Potter.

October

Friendly Ghost
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Danielle Feldman. Model sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig.

Back in the mountains for my favorite month! What a fabulous light on this one as well... really stormwatch is looking good in any background. I have to admit I don't have much to say on this one except that. With the colours it's a perfect one for autumn.

November

Nora Creina
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by Coralie Journoud. Model sculpted by Brigitte Eberl.

Back to Versailles again. when leaving the gardens (see september picture), I went directly to the stables. I was willing to picture a model spotted horse in front... and was delighted to see there was an arena (for actual horses) right there. This wasn't the case in 2018 when we visited the carriage museum. It was just... so perfect! And the picture is as perfect. I regretted the last time to have not been able to capture the beautiful horse sculpture of the door with a modelhorse, now it's done. Perfection. (Did I wrote too much of the word perfect on that post?)

Diamond Heart
Artist Resin Custom paintjob by  ClĂ©mence de Casanove. Model sculpted by Kylee Parks.

Here's the moment I'm going to talk about snow again. Do you know that in native Inuit there's 1000 words for snow? Well I totaly understand this and I hope I would be able to do 1000 photoshootings in the snow in my life! As snow is rarer and rarer, I'm really on the starting block all winter for a snowfall. For this picture I woke up early and did a long, long walk... enjoying a perfect winter moment. I was really thrilled not to have missed it, because it was only one of the 3 days of snowfall we had last winter and it melted real quick. Perfect picture to finish the year on a good mood!

And that's all I have to said, it was pretty much a lot isn't it?
So if you want to spent a year with my pictures and share my enthousiasm, don't be shy to sent me a mail ;) - Every share about the calendar is really appreciated as well!
